ArtExperience is due to hit Milan in March with meetings, seminars, lectures and concerts all being held at the Domus Academy and Spazio Oberdan, truly giving art lovers a great experience.

The five-day event draws specialists and experts in the art scene to the centre of Milan, along with plenty of aficionados keen to learn more about contemporary art. Workshops, lectures, meetings and seminars invite key figures to debate the relationships that are born between art, architecture, music, poetry and technology, which will surely open your eyes to the contemporary art world offering a whole new insight into this exciting area.

The first three days are centred on these seminars, with the event culminating in a series of concerts and performances over the final two days. Concerts are held at the Spazio Oberdan, the infamous art-house cinema and art gallery combo, with performances by the participants and organisers of the previous seminars. They encourage the exploration of new mediums in contemporary art, taking people beyond the traditional and introducing them to new heights of creativity including dance, theatre, cinema, music and visual arts.

It isn’t surprising that an event such as this is coming to Milan. Today I’ll speak about dots. And talking about spots, we should mention the obsession of the Japanese Yayoi Kusama for these spots. She loves the dots, especially the red and white ones, and also the mirrors. Her art is her connection to the infinite.

Mistreated by her mother, she suffered from hallucinations since she was a child. She says that if she hadn’t done art, she would have committed suicide long ago. She now voluntarily lives in a mental institution but she has never stopped her art work. She has her small art workshop nearby where she lives.

About her painting “Flower” (1954), she declared: “One day I was watching a red flower on the tablecloth and suddenly I saw the same pattern everywhere: on the roof, on the walls, on my own body and on the universe. I was spinning in infinite time and space. When I realized it I was shocked”. In the 70s she returned to his hometown, Japan.

Yayoi Kusama has exhibited “I Want to Live Forever” in Milan. If you have not had the chance to see her works, we recommend you follow her tracks: something like that is very difficult to see nowadays. Her work is really peculiar and surreal. When you immerse yourself in her world you do not know where fiction begins and where it ends to become reality… Psychedelic!

In 2009 the Japanese company KDDI AU launched 3 new phone models designed by her. In 2010 she surprised us promoting the Audi R8 car.
