Your weapon: A sexy scent

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Friday 21 May 2010 10:50 am

A successful seduction doesn’t necessarily have to do with yes….or yes. Sometime it doesn’t always finish in bed, it can finish in a park or a cemetary. Like poetry or painting, seduction is an art. Apart from choosing clothes that help you look and feel sexy, what else do you know about seduction?

Aromatic memories

Studies have shown that smells and fragrances cause an amazing effect on people’s minds, and last longer than visual memories. There’s a very close link between fragrances and seduction. People associate a memory with a scent. Take advantage of this and use subtle, sensuous scents to make an impression on the person you want to seduce.
Build an aromatic memory in his or her mind by wearing a scent that defines your personality, makes you feel confident and increases your power of seduction. The more a scent fits you, the easier it will be to achieve your goals.

Scents according to your personality
Floral smells like lilies and roses create positive images in a man’s mind and sweet ones like vanilla or melon will spark his libido. Wearing sweet notes will work on his subconscious level making him horny. There’s also a secret in wearing a perfume. Remember! You don’t want to overpower him with your smell or make him sneeze or break out in hives, right? Put a little behind your ears and he will get excited every time he hugs you. Do it half an hour before you meet him. If you know he prefers natural aromas avoid putting to much on your skin or he will soon look for the nearest exit.

Men can also use wood scents as a weapon showing how sophisticated they are or citrus smells if they bet on being original. Do you want a mix of sophistication and originality? Then you should wear natural smells with echoes of leather. I bet you didn’t know: Chemicals in men’s perspiration stimulate female sexual desire.
If you don’t want her to notice what a shy guy you are, a sexy scent is your perfect ally; you can play with her mind and change her perception of you.

Relaxed lines, lace and light fabrics, romantic skirts and dresses in pale colours or shirts, pants, bags and sandals in earth tones will be a sure hit.

2. Bet on ruffles and pick transparent gauzy dresses that give you the feeling of flying. Ruffles, large or small, in dresses, skirts or shirts, the trick is to choose ones that suit your figure and highlight your femininity. Ruffles are romantic touch that mark your body with an elegance that will surely slay a few dragons and maybe a prince too.

Bags, shoes, jewellery: everything is invaded by floral decorations. So watch out, otherwise you’ll end up looking like a walking flower-pot. Combine them with the neutral light colours we talked about for a perfect mix.

4. Forget about heavy makeup. This summer, the fewer colours you put on, the more fashionable you’ll be. Achieve a stunning look without strong dramatic colours, just a touch of foundation for flawless porcelain skin and your good to go. Forget the bronzer; this year is all about the natural look.

5. Protect yourself from the sun with transparent glasses frames, with a sixties air that highlights your eyes and is so au courant!

Twee Gets Trendy

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Friday 14 May 2010 11:29 am

Have you ever seen a turquoise sweatshirt with a pink unicorn screen-print in a vintage shop with 65 euros un-ironically marked on the price tag and thought, “if my mum was cooler and didn’t throw out all of my worn-out treasures, I could pay my rent with the relics of my childhood wardrobe”? Certainly Mister hipster horn-rim glasses has his counterpart: The sweet Miss Twee.

Welcome to 2010, a year where twee is in full swing. Being twee, as you all know, wasn’t so cool a few years back, it was just being twee. Cool was jeans and black leather jackets, being sexy or elegant, anything really that wasn’t the horrifying seasonally themed shirts that high school teachers wear, nor adult women with sweet cardigans, pink ribbons in their hair and mary janes with lace trimmed white socks shopping for obscure indie-pop EPs. But careful, the rise of twee is nothing new, nor should it surprise you in a culture that idealizes youth and sentimentality as much as ours does.

The roots of twee style

The roots of twee as a style (as opposed to an indie rock genre…) are a bit disperse, I would say the principal sources of inspiration are: Japan’s Lolita Goth style, twee music, which had its golden years in the 80`s and 90`s with groups like Beat Happening and Belle and Sebastian or the proliferation of websites like Craftsmen, which let you in on the secrets of making handbags with hand-apliqued cats and butterflies that will make you the coolest girl in town. Other important influences include the rise and fall of domestic goddess Martha Stewart (careful, no one would admit it), American website Etsy, which has an infinite selection of handmade or vintage clothes and accessories which can be sometimes heartbreakingly twee but quite cute, the artist Yoshitomo Nara (although strictly speaking, his art is anything but twee) and the unexpected success of movies like Amelie or Juno or singers like Russian Red.
If you add this together with a bunch of economic factors which encourage more and more people to adopt a DIY ethic, or buy things second-hand, you have all the conditions necessary to bring twee to like as a bona-fide trend. Twee is in principle, optimistic and supports aesthetic individualism; although it promotes recycling via the purchase of vintage clothing its worth pointing out that it faults the revolutionary political edge that many other alternative cultural expressions which allows it to be converted into a trend very easily.

Anyways, to get back on track, let me just remind you that 2010 is all about romantic dresses, floral prints which look plagiarized from country curtains and above all, an innocent look that taking a good long rest can help you achieve. So why don’t you check out the best vintage shops in Milan, to make sure your look is as stylish as it is twee, eat ice-cream and smile. The Apparel Diet

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Friday 7 May 2010 11:44 am

Milan is without question the capital of fashion. We associate the Italian city with its refined feminine style, its perfect confections and elaborate craftsmanship. This style, which influences fashion worldwide, is celebrated every year at the Fashion Week and it shows the longstanding tradition the city has as an important centre of artistic fashion design.

dieta-de-ropa

This doesn’t mean that Milan has nothing to offer but fashion with its incredible stores and the perfect style of the Milanese women…We all agree on the fact that the city can delight us on many levels, be it its architecture, the romantic Piazzas, its metropolitan dimensions, the museums or the food….but there will be always something missing if you take fashion out of the picture. What would we do without Missoni, Prada, Marni, MiuMiu or Bottega Veneta, if they weren’t there to seduce us to buy a pair of sunglasses, socks…anything??

For 140 all American girls this could be their worst nightmare come true. Since 2010 they’ve been on a diet. And we are not talking your normal fad diet, because paradoxically they are allowed to indulge in everyday gluttony. What they are not allowed though, is to spend any money on clothes – during the period of one year. The economic and environmental crisis has caused a major change in our collective subconscious. People are starting to revaluate their lifestyles, characterized by excessive spending and indifference, typically seen in the generation that grew up in democracy and capitalism.

We are facing new times, and new times ask for reevaluation of what is really important. And for the girls from “The Great American Apparel Diet” the most important thing is definitely not giving in into the doctrine of fashion trends and buying ten different pairs of sandals just to be accepted by the “fashionistas”.

Because they are proud to call themselves “recessionistas” and to be able to wear one piece of clothing in different ways, and still be trendy. Like Diana Vreeland, legendary columnist and fashion editor once stated: “The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.”

But we know that your hunger will strike back with vengeance after every diet. Therefore we believe that extremes aren’t really the answer, and that conscious consumption, and allowing yourself to indulge once in a while is key.
You should go to Milan and let its impeccable style wow you. Rent apartments in Milan and let the city seduce you to consume, albeit with a conscience.
